Gyaru, taken from the English word gal, is a type of Japanese street fashion typically characterized by heavy make-up, dyed or bleached hair, and sometimes tanned skin. This form of style and fashion, which is influenced partly by Western materialism has been seen as childish or rebellious in relation to traditional Japanese culture.
